Airalo Team: What's the biggest lesson you've learned from your travels as a woman?

Gals Who Travel: What immediately comes to mind when seeing this question is looking out for other women. If I'm traveling with a friend or on a Gals Who Travel trip and I see a solo female traveler I'll always go over and chat with her or ask if she wants to join. It's so important to look out for each other when you're away from home and familiarity.

Airalo Team: What are some of your favorite memories of solo trips?

Gals Who Travel: I feel like some of the funniest moments on solo trips are asking someone to take a photo of you… You really don't know what you're going to get, and you have to pluck up the courage to ask.

Airalo Team: What are some of your favorite solo dates when you are traveling?

Gals Who Travel: I love a walking tour. It's such a good way to find your bearings around a new place and to meet new people.

Airalo Team: What are some travel essentials you can't live without?

Gals Who Travel: Airalo, of course! No, seriously, landing in a new country with immediate data on your phone is the best way to calm travel anxiety.

Airalo Team: What travel clothes do you recommend for women?

Gals Who Travel: One thing I see people forget a lot when traveling to warmer countries is a jumper (sweater). You always want something to put on air-conditioned planes, trains, buses, and rooms, and people forget!

Airalo Team: What are your go-to strategies for navigating unfamiliar destinations confidently?

Gals Who Travel: Having an eSIM for sure helps with this! Having cash in the local currency and booking your accommodation somewhere central that's busy and easy to get to is also helpful.

Airalo Team: What are your top travel safety tips?

Gals Who Travel: Keep in touch with family and friends, have your location on, let the hostel staff know where you are heading if you're going out solo, and meet other solo travelers with whom you can explore.

Airalo Team: How do you choose safe accommodations when traveling solo?

Gals Who Travel: I always look at the reviews! I scroll and scroll to check that it's a good place to stay. I like looking on Google Maps before booking to see what's around and if it's in a good location. I also love recommendations from people who have already traveled—TikTok is great for this as you can visualize it before going.

Airalo Team: What's your best tip for making friends and connecting with other travelers?

Gals Who Travel: Join Facebook groups, book tours, and participate in social activities at your hostel!

Airalo Team: How do you stay healthy and energized on the go?

Gals Who Travel: I make sure I start the day with a good breakfast, so I know I'm fueled for a day of traveling. Top tip: Try to pick the accommodation that says breakfast is included, as it saves time and money trying to find somewhere to eat.

Airalo Team: What are your favorite phone apps when traveling abroad?

Gals Who Travel: Airalo, of course! Also, the currency converter & Google Translate.

Airalo Team: Any parting words to encourage other women to take that step out of their comfort zone?

Gals Who Travel: If not now, then when? I promise you it will be the best decision you make, and it's worth all the pre-travel anxiety. If you're looking to solo travel but aren't quite sure about it yet, come and try a Gals Who Travel trip. We do all the work for you by giving you a guide and a group of friends to travel with.
