It's superbly organised by local volunteers, giving it a proper community feel. When it comes to being one of the best half marathons in the UK, this one's in the conversation.

Tips for Planning your UK Half Marathon

  • Book way in advance - Half marathons in the UK sell out fast. Secure your spot early doors and make sure you book your accommodation well in advance if you're planning to stay overnight. You don't want to overspend or find everything's fully booked a week before the run.
  • Layer up - The weather here is unpredictable to say the least. Layers are the key to warming up, down or protecting yourself as much as possible from those spontaneous rain showers we all know and love.
  • Sleep early, leave early - Most runs start early on Sunday morning. And with roads often cut off especially for the run, everything is busier on run day. Adding another third onto Google Maps' predicted journey time should ensure you’re not late to the start line.
