How does Airalo use my location?

As an Airalo user, you have the option to share your location with Airalo — you can turn location permissions on and off, as you’d like.

When enabled, Airalo uses your location to provide timely and relevant messages that improve your experience purchasing and using eSIMs. When disabled, Airalo does not use or track your location, at all.

What notifications do I receive when I share my location with Airalo?

Airalo uses your location to send a variety of timely and relevant messages, including:

  • Welcome messages – When you travel to a new country, we’ll send messages to confirm your arrival at your destination.

  • Promotional offers — Some of our promotions apply to specific regions, you may receive discounts based on your location.

  • Reminders — At certain travel hubs, such as airports, we’ll send messages to help remind you to purchase an eSIM for upcoming trips.

  • Support messages — Some support issues may be related to your location, we’ll use your location to help expedite troubleshooting.

Please note, some of these messages require that you always share your location with Airalo.

How can I share my location with Airalo?

Depending on your device, you can choose to share your location with Airalo in multiple ways, with multiple levels of location permissions.

How can I share my location on iOS devices?

When you open the Airalo app, you may receive a prompt asking to share your location.

To enable these location permissions for iOS devices, select the “Allow While Using App” option. You will then be asked if you would like to always share your location. If you would like to enable this, select the “Change to Always Allow” option.

If you do not enable location sharing from these in-app prompts, you can choose to share your location from your settings by doing the following:

  1. Go to Settings > Airalo > Location.
  2. Select “Always” under “ALLOW LOCATION ACCESS.” 

If you keep your location permissions set to “While Using the App,” you may not receive certain location-based notifications.

How can I share your location on Android devices

When you open the Airalo app, you may receive a prompt asking to share your location.

To enable these location permissions for Android devices, select the “While using the app” option. 

If you do not enable location sharing from these in-app prompts, you can choose to share your location from your settings by doing the following:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Airalo > Permissions > Location.
  2. Select “Allow only while using the app.”

Please note, Airalo does not currently enable Android users to always share their location.

How can I stop sharing my location on iOS devices?

To stop sharing your location on iOS devices, do the following:

  1. Go to Settings > Airalo > Location.
  2. Select “Never” under “ALLOW LOCATION ACCESS.”

How can I stop sharing my location on Android devices?

To stop sharing your location on Android devices, go to Settings > Apps >  Airalo > Permissions > Location > Don't allow.
